I was messing around trying to do just that, and the best I could think of would be to model swap the HeroChild to the Hero. Then you need to change the games starting point to somewhere other than the starting Oakvale. I haven't tried it yet, mostly because I don't know how to change the starting point, or if it's even possible. But hopefully someone else will have some idea.
