Help with shop spawning [message #23494]

I spawned a shop inside the picnic area, but the shop owner isn't there...it's only a building with weapon graphics on the wall but no shelf or shop keeper...help please?

So you just spawned a building? Because it needs the proper CDefs...

A Shop needs to be tied to a village UID. The shop then spawns the appropriate shopkeeper. I wouldn't bother trying the Picnic area's uid as the area won't have a shopkeeper.

Copy and paste the village information from another area (with a new UID) and use that village's UID for the shop. This should result in a fully working store.

You can manually spawn a shopkeeper with no village.

1)Building has to be a shop.
2)Set the HomeBuildingUID & WorkBuildingUID of the Creature you want to run the shop.

The reason you'd tie a village to a shop is for the purpose of having the village spawn the actual shopkeeper. The keeper used is stored in the CVillagePeopleDef of the VILLAGE.

But the building itself NEEDS the CShopDef otherwise it won't have an inventory.

Unless you figure out how to use the CTCShop in the TNG.

I remember using it in Bowerstone. Set a villager to use one of the empty market stalls as work UID and a house as home. Worked fine.
