All right so to keep myself organized I'm here with my WiP thread. I will be using this to keep a (fairly) up to date list of changes made and planned changes; and of course to up date you the happy modders of this community with my progress.

The Aim
Make Fable challenging.
  • Fix the wealth issues in the game.
  • Make the economy of the world seem reasonable
  • Make drops make sense.
  • Slow down the hero's stat advancement.
  • Legendary weapons that are deserving of the title legendary.
  • Remove nonsensical items.
  • Rebalance armour and weapons.
  • Keep it fun.

The Wealth Problem
The Problem: In short you can filthy stinkin' rich by the time you go back to Oakvale. More complexly, gold is easy, easy to come by. You get hundreds of gold from every where. Quests give you gold in the thousands. Money seems to fall from the sky. It bugs me.
The Solution: Quests will reward based on who is paying you and how much money they spend. Gold carried by creatures will also be a function of their average wealth.

Fable and it's Economy
The Problem: There really isn't one directly it's more related to wealth. However, it's always seemed strange to me how easy it was to find any weapon/armour you needed - in fact it was as if the entire world revolved around paying heroes to do quests so that the heroes would then need new stuff so they'd have to spend it in the shops - and yet the heroes still turn out to be the richest of the rich.
The Solution: Make shops tailored to their communities.

Hero Stat Advancement
The Problem: You advance way to fast. By way of an example to get Hew's sword who hasn't had to max out at least one stat if not two to pull it out? It's not that I have a problem with that but your not even half way through the game...this kind of annoys me.
The Solution: General experience will be removed. Experience requirements may still need to be increased.

Legendary Weapons
Problem: They suck.
Solution: Make them awesome ...

Nonsensical Items
Problem: Ages of **** completely mess up the hero's advancement. I find it completely insane that I can drink a potion and get better at life.
Solution: Remove 'em/ make 'em do something new and more reasonable.

Rebalance Armour/Weapons
Problem: The armour and weapon damage of creatures and the hero are not equal.
Solution: Balance them out.

Miscellaneous
  • Potions, res phials made extremely rare.
  • No Health increase from Health stat - becomes merely aesthetic.

What's Done
  • Damage type response on basic hero armours.
  • Removed random res, health, and will.
  • Changed gold starting quests (Wasp Queen to Darkwood Traders).
  • Iron Weapon damages changed.
  • Wasp Queen now a slight challenge.
  • TNG edits of a few maps.
  • Removed general experience form all monsters.

Current Thanks List

That no health increase probably wouldn't be a good idea, especially with extremely rare res phials. I'd test that against Jack if I were you.

jack's a wimp, he'd be easy to beat without getting hit, might take a few tries but it isn't really a long boss battle anyway

There once was a member of this land,
a humorous posting he planned,
but when he posted,
by mods he was toasted,
and now he has found himself banned.

I'll be testing all the way through. I'm basically working region by region, quest by quest in order - so it's in constant testing.
