Honestly i hate animie, its tacky, childish and kinda lame. for example a kid is screaming yet he opens his mount and it dosnt move. anyway armors a pretty tall order as you've got to weight it and stuff but battle charge should be easy.

I think it's about contrast. It also looks cool... depends on who you ask of course. And this reality comment... I see it a lot, but it never makes any sense to me. Why would it matter?

Considering most anime characters are able to produce some form of energy blast from their person as well as other non-regular human abilities I find it easy to believe that wielding huge swords is possible.
To watch anime you have to have a willing suspension of disbelief.
