If I want to change how my hero runs, do I have to switch the ID's or can I just import the data from the anim that I want to use?

if you mean the CAppearanceDef then either will work just fine, but be warned: many animation sets other that the hero's don't have everything that the hero needs

No, I mean in the graphics.big there is a list of all the animations. If I swap the ID's then the hero does something differently. I swapped the hero_run ID with the hero_special_berserk_run so that the hero runs like berserk when he's not in berserk. The only problem is that when he's in berserk, he runs like a normal hero.

never seen it done that way, but yeah, just try exporting and importing entry data
