Recently, my Fable will just crash out of no where and next time I start up I get this message: We are sorry, but we have detected that the game did not exit correctly. We recommend starting the game in safe mode. Safe mode may disable some advanced features of the game, but may allow you to play the game.

I do not receive a message at all when it crashes. It just shuts off.
Any ideas what the cause is and how this problem can be solved?

Depends. Did you use any mods or make any changes to the files?
If not, then I can't help you.

Yes, I did actually. Using Fable Explorer and Albion Explorer I made a custom weapon, created a personal body guard, altered my plate armor's armor rating, and I altered my eyes to that of Scythe's.

Do you think that perhaps one of those may have caused this?

Common errors with custom weapons: Missing defs; alpha enabled texture.
Common errors with bodyguards: Many, please post the script.
Possible error with eyes (if you changed it in textures.big, if not, ignore) alpha enabled texture.
Armor rating is simple enough so I doubt that's it.

A good clue would be where your bodyguard is and where you crash.
If you crash in a region that contains or "sees" the map that the bodyguard is, then that would be the problem.

Well I just added the body guard after this happened so it is most likely not the source. And it was working just fine with everything else. However my custom weapon is my latest mod (besides the body guard.
Here's the script by the way.

And I re-installed it. All my mods have been wiped. Started a New profile and it still does it.

Peter hates you?

No, just kidding. Even you reinstalled the game, it still crashing. Well, maybe you should reinstall it again.

Even I reinstalled it more than 5 because the other times, my fable didn't work. I don't know the main problem if you have reinstalled it agin and come empty handedly.

delete the fable - the lost chapters folder before re-installing

Oh yeah, that's true, because fable wouldn't delete all of the data when you uninstall it.

If still failed, I guess peter..

I got it fixed. I just changed the compatibility to Windows 98. Haven't crashed since.
