I was thinking it may be possible to model a gun or use fable24man's GunBlade as a bow/crossbow. Someone could then set it up to link the projectile to the fireball spell and speed up the new projectile a bit. Would it work?

Possible is yes, but I doubt anyone will do it (especially the gun). If you already have a model, all you have to do is link the shot with Fireball with 100++ speed.
