this is a mod to make you guy look like he is blind

(best used in dark places)

it was an existing texture not used in much

That could be a reason. I can't run some most powerful games on my computer until I get a new laptop. I have a desktop, but I like my mouse in the middle of the keyboard.

Then get a keyboard with a touchpad. They're not hard to find (mainly because very few are bought).

Hush, it's not a Vista issue and he's inactive anyway.
The problem could be tampering with the texture (alpha), corrupted texture (loaded badly), or another edit that he did wrong in addition to using this mod.
