I just got fable tlc yesterday and i'm new to modding. When i mod a weapon or add a weapon, will it do the same to any other files i have in the game? If so, is there anyway to prevent it?

Welcome to our forums.
I don't fully understand your question. what files do you mean? If you add a weapon to the game, you add a weapon (and all parts of it) to the gamefiles. Or are you talking about savegames? Are you looking at a specific tutorial?

I dont know for sure what the question is but i think the question is if you mod a weapon in fable or bring in a modded weapon will it mod other files or change the non modded weapon into modded weapon in wich would be overwriting the old file.
So if you bring in a modded weapon it will not do anything to other weapons unless it is a texture and befer you do any of this make backups of fable and get fable explorer you should easy on the forum and you will need to know how to spawn chests.

If that is not the question just leave a message.

Ok. Any changes made with Fable Explorer (your main modding tool) are permanent. FE directly changes the game files.
Therefore making backups is the first thing you should do before you start changing anything!

-> How mods change the files depends on the mod itself. Some alter existing stuff, others add new stuff to the game.

-> Anything you change yourself with FE will change your current game, unless you add things.

-> Since you're new, you'll have to do some reading first. Start here.

-> If you have backups, you don't have to be afraid to screw stuff up.

sorry i wasn't specific. I meant, if you change, for example, the damage of a weapon or add a weapon, will it change it for all save games. I think it does but is there anyway to prevent it and make the change for only one save game?

Darkened Soul is 100% correct.

I answered you're question in my previous post:

If anyone here has star wars knights of the old republic 1 or 2 and uses mods on it most likely knows about kse (kotor save game editor). Would it be possible to do something like that for fable. It allows you to select a save game to edit and then you edit that specific save game.

Possible: yes. Is anyone gonna make it: no.
Unless you do it yourself, the file format is pretty well known I believe.
Reason that nobody will make it is that tools like FE are much more interesting when it comes to modding.

Precisely.

Every so often I'll see threads on more in-depth trainers or discussions of saves, but while it would be good for testing, it is very limited and so won't serve much purpose when compared to what the other tools can do.

What I really would like to see is a app that strips tng data from save files so you don't need to start a new game when editing maps
