That bugged me alot too. I was like:"I've been to every place in the game...Now where the hell is that place in the loading screen..."
And I hope LionHead will make sure everything left out will be in the next game And I hope they make it open... Then we wont need freeroam And I hope they'll open it to modibility as many people are hoping... Crap I forgot my English PortFolio... Three quarters running I promise myself, next quarter I won't forget .

Speaking of the mushrooms, I guess breathing in that stuff around those huge mushrooms in darkwood has its wierd effects too O_O

Im trying this right now, and I got a few questions...
1: Is there any way to make the guards spawn faster? Or better, remove the pause between their respawns?
2: Do the balverines replace the guards?
3: Do you have to kill the 1020 guards in one session, or in total over the whole game? (Like, kill 200 today, 300 tomorrow etc)
Edit: Nevermind, just hit the 1020 point and they started spawning. Answered 2 and 3, and a few unasked questions
The guards however cant be set to spawn faster? Spent almost 5 hours on this, most of it waiting for respawns.

The kill total is just that "kill total". Add a creature generator to up the amount of kills you can get quickly.
