Project Backstory (Boring)
This has long been something I've wanted to do, we're talking years. But years ago I didn't have the tools or the knowledge to do this. Now, I do. Fresco dome, known in-game as the Chamber of Fate, has a pretty cool building in it. That building has six doorways, only one of which the Hero uses, the rest are blocked off by stone and bricks. So my idea was to clear out those obstacles and throw some doors in those doorways. But, because this is Fable, there were a few problems.
I'm using the original meshes, not changing the geometry at all except to clear out those rocks, but the texture coordinates are all crazy and the submeshes are all merged together. This means I have to break them all apart by texture and redo the texture coordinates so that they don't look like they came from a mathless dimension. And the building itself is not one mesh but six, or eight if you include the roof and door. I believe this has to do with mesh size restrictions, which will likely mean that my finished product will have to be cut in six pieces as well. Basically, the reason I haven't done this yet is because every time I have tried, I am overwhelmed and put off by the idea of working on it and I ultimately quit in a huff and delete the files.
But I'm smarter now.
Now, the question I always have on nearly everything I do is this: What do I do with this when I'm done? The end result is that I'm going to have five new doors. I can make each door appear after certain key quests (same way as the fresco paintings appear), or I can make ten doors and have them open up after the first Jack fight, five show up when evil and five show up when good (same way as the alignment-based fresco painting). Or I can have them there from the start and not depend on game progress to appear. Or I can do something else that I haven't thought of yet.
And even then, there's still the matter of where these doors are going to go. I can remove the demon doors and change half of the maps to act as tunnels between the fresco dome and demon door sanctuaries, have the doors go directly to a demon door, I can have the doors go to various parts of Albion to dummy teleport pedastals that will appear alongside the doors. Or again, I can do something else that I just haven't thought of yet.
So there are really a lot of possibilities. I can do a lot of stuff with this, I just don't know what I'd want to do.
