There's not a whole lot in the way of making my hero look unique from other players' heroes. I'm already working on a project, but I need to take breaks frequently so I don't shoot myself. One of the things I have cooking on the side, planning-wise, are accessories. Need some input on things I can put together.
What I'm thinking so far is:
Glasses, at least two styles, maybe a monocle as well?
Earrings, one, two, three, on the straight or gay side, or both. I don't even know which side is which.
Necklaces, rings, bracelets. Gonna get all fancy.
Smoking pipes. With smoke. This will give me an opportunity to play around with effects, and poke the brains of Keshire and JohnDoe on the subject.
Decorative scabbards and shields. Just for show.
Bandoleers, with knives, potions, throwing bombs, arrows/bolts, etc.
How I plan on implementing this is through a special barber. The accessories will technically be hairstyles. They'll add no armor ratings and offer no special modifiers, they're all just for show.
tl;dr
I'll be making some custom accessories. Does anyone have suggestions on what accessories I can add?

And how to make it even better.

That's excellent, I've never seen any of that work before and it is definitely worth checking out. Thanks jwc.

Circlets, crowns, I might be able to make that work. There would be issues though. I haven't tested, at all, the theory I'll be using to put these accessories in. Should it work? Yes. Will it? Don't know. But the specific issue with circlets and crowns is that, I'd either have to have it so it gets rid of the player's hair, or it shows through worn helmets/hats. If I can work up some magic to make it completely proper, I will absolutely, most definitely do it. Overcomplicating this. Easier and more proper to just make actual clothing items for that.
For scabbards I was thinking of actual, functional scabbards worn on the back. Sheathes are hard. Can't make it a quiver item, because you either make the sword disappear when sheathed or there's always a sword there, even when you unsheathe it. You could make it a quiver item of a ranged weapon that normally doesn't have one, say, a crossbow. I guess that's alright, it may even be a better method as it allows portable switching of sheathes by changing ranged weapons, but it is also limited in that if you want that sheathe, you have to use that ranged weapon. I'd prefer to try it first as an accessory, and if it isn't working out I'll come out with crossbow quiver sheathes instead.

The problem with scabbards is that they're exceedingly hard to do right. You could add an extension to the back of your standard quiver that could accommodate most(if not all) swords, but then you'd have hell getting it to look right with maces, picks, greatmaces, or greathammers. You could make individual scabbards for each weapon, but you'd have to switch out some piece of equipment as well as switching to your sword in order to get it to work right. Giving a melee weapon a quiver object won't work right, either.
