Read the stickies in the Graphics section.
You'll find info on modelling and making textures there.
Also info on which porgrams are the best to use and info on importers and exporters.

Making clothing can be a pain in the ass.
But helmets and such are the easiest among them.

There's a mod out there thats similar here.
