Problem
When starting the app, the splash screen shows up and it hangs or 'freezes' not doing anything,
OR you get an 'Access Denied' error.
Solution
Read this AND the guides at the bottom, I didn't plug DarkenedSoul for no reason - he knows what he's talking about.
If you're
not a Vista or Windows 7 user, then you're an idiot and you need to undo the 'Read-only' flag on the files.
Problem
You get an 0xC0000135
OR an 0xC000007B
OR an HRESULT: 0x8007007E error.
Solution
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
Problem
You open FE and none of the files show up.
Solution
Either the files aren't there, the registry information is missing, or the registry information is wrong.
In any case, a reinstall of Fable is the easiest way to fix this problem.
Problem
When loading the program, you get an 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' error.
Solution
Make sure you have the game installed, a no-brainer
but then again some of our members obviously don't have brains.
Make sure you're not doing something stupid like trying to open FE by double-clicking an .FMP file.
Make sure you didn't delete or move any of the DLLs and that they're in the same directory as the FableExplorer.exe.
Make sure you downloaded the XML and have that in the same directory as the FableExplorer.exe.
Still get the error? Try installing these:
This;
this and
this.
Are they all needed? No, but these are all good things to have anyway.
Still get the error?
Well, you could try getting
DirectX 9.0c, never know.
It's better to get
the DirectX Runtimes though, you'll need it for ChocolateBox anyway.
Still get the error?
Tough shit.
