While I can't say anything further, I may or may not be building a sandstone statue on a beach somewhere.

Edit: But for stone-/statue-esque creatures as Elion Demur had asked about, or just regular statues that you'd see in Bowerstone or someplace like that, I'd definitely go with something less sandy. It's all about blending in so that it doesn't look out of place.
