Assuming that it has been properly skinned and has the hierarchy set up correctly: Import it over all but the last LOD of any animated mesh (like a bandit), assign textures, rename the entry, File|Create Fable Mod Package, drag'n'drop the renamed mesh entry to the window, save FMP. Without saving changes, close FE, open FE, load the newly created FMP, and you will have a new mesh entry with the new mesh in it.
If it is not properly set up forget about it and go about your day, unless you intend on fixing it yourself with 3DS Max.
