The simple way is to change out which mesh is used for the CREATURE_HERO entry, using the kid's instead, and to change out which bones are used in the CHeroMorphDef - the child has his own bone morph set. The child mesh is about the same size as the adult mesh, the bones are what makes him smaller. The only issue I can imagine you'll have is with clipping. When you put on armour, a piece of the adult hero mesh disappears so as to prevent clipping, but this won't happen properly with the child mesh.
