Ok, so I use GIMP and i've been working on trying to edit the textures of some items to make 'em look awesome. Laughing

What the problem is, though, that I don't know what kind of file to save the images. Hell, i've tried making my own kind of file!(.mesh, .texture, .file)
So I thought that someone here here could help me. If you could, i'd greatly appreciate it.=) Thanks!

Here's how I do it:
1. Open Fable Explorer
2. Open textures.big
3. Extend the second menu
4. Look for the texture I want
5. Save As... the texture to some place
6. Copy the original texture
7. Edit the copy texture
8. Open the texture in Fable Explorer.

When you import an edited texture in Fable Explorer, most of the textures should be imported as dxt1 and the alpha set to 0, or your game will crash.
You can check the settings when you export the texture.

this is not an exit.

Lucky I'm in a good mood.

http://registry.gimp.org/plugin?id=4816

This is a plugin for GIMP version 2.0 and above. It allows you to load and save images in DirectDraw Surface (DDS) format. It is based on the plugin written by Arne Reuter found here: http://www.dr-reuter.de/arne/dds.html

in FE the export button saves as a raw format. Don't use that.

The main concerns will most likely be with the functionality of the ‘Open New’ and ‘Save As...’ buttons.

The ‘Open New’ button will allow you to open a texture from a file. When you open a new texture it will load it and replace the current texture in the entry with the one you opened. Once you have your new texture loaded into the entry make sure to press the ‘Apply Changes’ button to make the changes persistent.
