Can't change weapon damage! [message #42372] Fri, 13 June 2008 10:57 Go to next message

Hi,

I followed the instructions to change the damage of a weapon.

I managed to do that for Avo's Tear, but no matter what I try, it just won't work for Skorm's Bow!
I want to change the damage to 650, so I entered 65 at the damage value field, clicked on apply and action. But the inventory still says 220 (or something close to that)

Now, when I check the damage value field, it says 65, but the game tells me otherwise.

I already tried not having Skorm's bow as primariy ranged weapon but it didn't help! I also tried running Fable Explorer as Admin, but didn't help either.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Thanks!
Drago

It can't be a weapon that you already have.

Hmm...

But I already had Avo's Tear in my inventory and it worked...

So guess I'll sell the bow, change it and re-buy it...

I'll come back to tell what happened!

EDIT
Didn't help.

Any other ideas? Should I start with a fresh game.bin? (But then I'd lose the change already made to Avo's Tear...)

I had a problem, but generally with ranged weapons. With bows, the

damage says (float)damage(divided by 10) and it has a 1. I don't

even know where to find the weapon damage for Skorm's Bow and it

would be helpful for my upcoming mod.

Sorry Drago

Skorm's Bow is, according to my sources, Object_Legendary_Longbow.

I agree, it being a ranged weapon might be the problem.

Ah, hah, okay. With ranged you have to change the CWeaponDef of the shot, not the bow. Sorry, should have mentioned that.

And where do I find the CWeaponDef of the shot?

I'm new to this, so please excuse if that question is stupid. Embarassed

My apologies, shot entries don't have a CWeaponDef. It has been a really long time since I've messed with damage (or opened FE, for that matter).

But... you can trace things from the main entry.

OBJECT>>(Browse CDefs)>>CWeaponDef>>SHOT

In the entry, find something called "HitThingDamage"

You can just go to OBJECT_SHOT, find your bow and then change the minimum damage and the box right under it (I think that other box refers to the maximum damage).

Well JohnDoe was approaching this problem by going through CWeaponsDef and then finding the shot when one can simply just get to SHOT category and then find the bow

It's best to trace things through the main entry, this way you can make sure you get the right one. It's a good habit.
