I've updated my other post, but thought this worthy of another post

This tutorial will teach you how to set up weapons completely in blender and gimp and notepad, without even touching 3ds.

High Quality (download, you need Divx or Xvid)
Youtube (p1) (p2) (p3)

hope that works for you

just the helpers part:

High Quality Download
Youtube version (low quality)

Yeah, it's great! But, the audio was MUCH faster than all of the
"fancy" effects.

the parts where I don't say what I'm doing aren't important, just mostly fixing my own mistakes and making sure things are working right

you don't, .x uses matrixes, so unless you can type rotation translation and scale matrices by hand you need some type of 3d program with .x support

Isn't it just like tng. editing? Just type in like x, y, and z numbers?

To a small extent, you can, but you have to be damn good at it. You have to know what each piece and value represents, and then you have to have a way of figuring out what values you would need. Scale would be the easiest, it's 1,1,1. If you had a way of finding out exactly which vertex was where, you can take care of translation and rotation, given you know the right rotation values, which can't be copied because the mesh is at the origin, and taking from other models would only give you the right values for that model, not the one you're working with, but if it were right to begin with, there would be no need to know anything in the first place. So to get rotation values (assuming you have a way to figure out which vertex was where, of course) you would mentally draw out the vertices and connect the dots to a point where you get a vague idea of how the model is positioned, then compare certain vertices to figure out what the rotation is going to be. Of course, you could also use Blender to draw out the model and grab data about the vertices for you.

Okay, i'm going to try some Trial and Error, but i don't want to use a "broken" model (just no/incorrect helpers). Is there a way to screw them up? Possibly, import them to Blender and the "suck" again (if they ever did that is)? Very Happy

Probably going to try to import something into Blender without doing anthing in the video.

Of course this will take...well, a long time since i'm not on but less than 12 hourse hours somedays (yeah, i know, i have nothing else to do).

It's not a cylinder, it's a tube. Tubes are hollow, cylinders are not (geometrically speaking, anyway).

Wow sorry about this but when I go to the part with UV editor after clicking split wiew and I press u while in edit mode and click cylinder from view nothing shows up in the uv editor side. =( Well I just don't know whats wrong. If you need more information to help me just tell me what you need to know. Thank you.

*EDIT* I figured out what was wrong so now it shows up on the UV side but it is slanted on one side. Please help.

*EDIT*
Darn I should take mote time on these things. It turns out the cylinder was slanted. I'm starting to get the hang of Blender tho. Thanks, it helped alot.(I'm not sure if it is just my game or rat pack or the blender weapon but when I opened my inventory the game froze so badly I had to restart my computer.

My lack of taste for signatures and inability to make them shiny with the correct shades and lighting has upset someone that indirectly asked me to remove them. Basically they sucked.

the entire process involves using notepad at some point (or another text editor), but just press the "r" key to rotate

the same way you select everything else

blender does not import them, so you need to make them yourself like I did in the tutorial
