How do I go about doing this? People react to me very negtively in game becaue of the facial scars I've got. I don't want to just remove them visually but th effect they have.

then you haven't got much attractiveness or you have no scariness because without scariness, sometimes they don't have respect to you.

Is there any way to edit the save file directly to remove the scars? Or ageing?

My "Scariness" is consistently very high.

Stop killing people, no massacres, no guard killing sprees.
Behavior determines reactions and opinions as much as clothing and appearance. That said, scars and age shouldn't have nothing to do with it.

No.

Read this to learn another way to remove scars.
Do a search on how to manipulate an item's CBonusItemDef to increase attractiveness (hint: search for CBonusItemDef).
That should take care of what you wanted to do.

As for the saves, it's possible but we haven't made a tool to do that yet, and we likely won't.

No.
Even if I did, no.
Even if I was charitable enough to go out of my way to do such a strenuous task for someone other than myself, no.
Even if it was for me, no.
Even if it wasn't just temporary, no.

Would starting a new game be that much trouble?
Just remove the scars in the Hero's CCreatureDef, Skin effects, no scars, ever.
If you absolutely must keep your save, replace the scar textures with "nothings", textures set to 0% alpha except for 1 pixel, which is set to 1%. This will aesthetically eliminate the scars for good as well.
If you really believe that scars affect attractiveness, then edit a CBonusItemDef, perhaps of a potion, food, whatever, and change the attractiveness to a gazillion.

If you want a solution that we can't/won't offer, go to NevarNevar Land and wait forevar until someone offers to do it for you.
