My 16 year son downloaded chocolatebox and it was working great. After working with the program for awhile his experimenting went awry. We uninstalled and reloaded Fable and now Choclatebox will not work. We tried to re-unzip the file but we are told that the files already exist. I've tried to delete the chocolate box folder in explorer to no avail, and have tried deleting the folder through the command window, with out any success. The only other thing I can think of is to restart the computer and go to the command prompt before windows starts, as windows xp seems to be using the files we are trying to delete. Any suggestions? Stressed out Father.

Not true, but should work. The folder is probably locked, this would happen to me all of the time on older systems. The contents of the folder would get overwritten anyway, so it wouldn't matter. To further diminish the importance of this, I think I know what the problem is and it isn't a fault of either the utility or the game.
Click here for an explanation as to how this happensChocolateBox is our latest modding utility, and as such, it has been made to make modding easier for less technical users in many ways, including doing a process locally known as "dumping the wad" for the user.
The FinalAlbion.wad file is like a zip file, it is an archive that contains several hundreds of files that are much easier to edit individually, so ChocolateBox extracts them. These files make up the maps and things on the maps to be edited. Even though the files have been extracted, the game will still use the archive. What we found out was that by renaming, moving or deleting the archive, the game will use the individual files themselves rather than the archive, so ChocolateBox renames the archive.
Here's the problem that you and your son are more than likely experiencing. When you uninstalled the game, it removed all of the files that the game installation put there. The installation doesn't think that it put the renamed archive there, so it leaves it, and it didn't put the extracted files there, so it leaves those too. When the game was reinstalled, all of the files that were removed were replaced with the originals, this includes another copy of the archive, unrenamed. While this ensures that any experimenting gone awry would be remedied, ChocolateBox isn't working because it believes it needs to repeat the dumping/extracting process again because there is an archive with the original name in existence. It can't rename this archive because there is another archive with the name that ChocolateBox would be renaming the other archive to.
This problem exists because of a possible need to keep the original archive, for in the event that some experimentation has gone awry with the individual files, it can be renamed back to the original name and the process can be done again, overwriting any bad results relating to the individual files. But this was not the course of action taken on your end, and I wouldn't expect it to be, either.
Click here for your solutionsYou can go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fable - The Lost Chapters\data\Levels And you should find two files with the extensions *.wad. One will be _FinalAlbion.wad, the other will be FinalAlbion.wad. You should also see a folder labeled "FinalAlbion". Delete the folder labeled "FinalAlbion" and the archive labeled _FinalAlbion.wad, leaving the one with the original name. The next time ChocolateBox runs, it will see the existing archive with the original name and repeat the dumping/extracting process without fault, since once it is done, it can rename the file. Note that if you can't delete the folder, perhaps it is locked. That is okay, you'll be using the folder again anyway, and it might not even be necessary, since the files themselves will be overwritten. But for a thorough job, you may want to delete the contents of the folder.
Alternatively, you can just delete the FinalAlbion.wad file (the one without the underscore). The only problem with this is that if there is a problem with the individual files, the game won't work, you'll uninstall, reinstall, then ChocolateBox won't work, and we'll be back where we started.
I recommend the first option. If the preferred method of remedying such problems is an uninstall/reinstall, I also recommend that the new renamed archive file is deleted once the process is finished. The game will work, the utility will work, and if you should need to uninstall and reinstall again, this problem will be avoided entirely.
I apologize for the long post, I just wanted to make everything as clear as possible. If you need more information, help with anything else related to this, or if my solution doesn't work (it's all still theory), don't hesitate to let us know. Also, kudos to you sir for being knowing what your son is doing and getting involved even this much in this community. I've met many parents who could not care less about such things.
