What exactly are the clothing alpha textures linked to? I couldn't figure out what things like TEXTURE_HERO_APPRENTICE_ALPHA_NEUTRAL are really used for.

What? Can't exactly figure out what it is you're asking. See if you can come up with a detailed example or something. Surely it will be an easy explanation if I understand what it is you want to know.

If you use the ShadowNet build for FE, then it's easier to find because you can search for "apprentice" in the texture.big file. Otherwise, the ID is 808, so you can scroll down to that. That one is the TEXTURE_HERO_APPRENTICE_ALPHA_NEUTRAL. I don't know exactly what it's linked to. To me, it just looks like an unused texture file.

Yea yea, I know what and where the textures are, your question isn't a usual one.

The texture that you're specifically talking about is used in at least two places. Hooded apprentice shirt and chainmail helmet use 808, it makes it appear that a shadow is being cast on the Hero's face from the clothing. The other alpha textures serve similar purposes.

That's exactly the answer I was trying to get. Thanks for the help.

Edit: One last question: if I were to make a new hood, etc. where would I link the alpha?

Same place you would put any other texture, on the submesh via the materials tab of the graphics.big entry.

What I don't get about your questions is that if you just remove the 'alpha' part, it's just like any other texture on any other submesh on all meshes in the game, and it's treated exactly the same (because it is exactly the same).

I know that, but so far I haven't used any alphas or submeshes in my new objects.
