It still didn't work for me. Game crashed when I get to weapons menu.
To be thorough I tried the latest fmp on a clean install, new game, and spawned the weapon in a chest and the game crashed when I open the chest. The texture seemed right, DXT-3 and alpha-1. I don't know what else it could be. Hopefully someone else will try and it will work for them, then I will know the problem is me doing something wrong.
