If the brightness adjust on your actual monitor does not work, I'm pretty sure Fable has an in-built gamma adjust, I'm not sure though. If it does, this will affect Fable ONLY and no other visual appearences. If not, you can manually adjust your gamma via the desktop - Note that this will alter all visual setting and EVERYTHING will be brighter.
