Question about creature models. [message #23652]

I have noticed that after going through a creatures files (CREATURE and ccreaturedef), that there is nothing there to tell it which texture to use, but only the model. When I link to the model it shows the model with the texture on, now does this mean that each texture is bound to it's model or am I missing something and the texture on the model is just to show us what it looks like?
