There's something wrong with the file you're importing. It could be that FE is being temperamental, or it could be that you have your hierarchy wrong, or it could be that in moving the submeshes to be at origin, you screwed something up. You'll probably have to do the skinning/weighting/rigging/whatever you call it again.
